Omniplex, OKC

It has become our habit to go on a road trip to Oklahoma City to visit the Omniplex (the science museum). Because of the great fun we had last year, Joey and Seth Black decided to come along with Davey, Josh and Sam Black.

A friendly hug!

There was a small exhibit of fractal art. Being a fan of chaos theory and fractals, I wanted to get the boys interested. But, as usual, they ignored my nerdy chattering about nonlinear systems and bifurcations.

The catenary arch is one of our favorites.

Which beam seems more stable?

This was a recording booth where Joey and Seth were saying silly things into the recorder.

I give the boys cameras when we go, just to see what comes back to me. I tell them, "I have just a few rules... We must see and touch EVERYTHING. And I always have to be able to see you and you always have to be near enough to hear me."

Thats a big globe eh?

More fractal art, with a big blobby flash.

What is in there to keep 5 boys' attention? A huge magnet and bits of metal. I made sure the digital cameras and watches were out of harm's way.

It feels gooey. That's why they couldn't keep their hands out!

A gyro. You spin the bike wheel, then sit on a stool that can rotate. You are supposed to twist and turn the bike wheel and see what happens to you!

The Echo Tube! It makes echos.... duh

self-explanatory.....

They have airplanes in a section of this museum.

A very large chair.
