Iquique 2004

I went to Iquique, Chile for the Biopharmacy courses in late June. I got some photos from my friend, Marival Bermejo.

These are photos of the view from Marival's room.

Marival is in the habit of taking photos of her room. I decided to take photos of my room! This is my 'living room'.

Here is my kitchen. I didn't use it except to drink the bottled water that they always put in the fridge. And to make instant coffee.

This room reminded me of my apartment at UPenn.

...Except I never had a bed this big.

This is the view from one of my windows.

And there were these really ugly birds.

We went on a tour into the desert. There are geoglyphs carved into the hillsides. The tour guide spoke only Spanish, so I didn't understand much, but they were impressive to see.

There is a street called Peseo Banquedano, and you can see tram tracks on the ground. They have been restoring this old tramway for years and it wasn't yet operational when I was there. It opened, however, in October this year.

We went to some place where they had karaoke. Gordon, Marival, and Jim had a go at it.

Gladys Chicago and Marival were enjoying Spanish songs.

Marival loves to dance! She's dancing with Sol Stavchansky.

Sol was leading a line of dancers. You can see Regina Pezoa at the end of the line.

Here is that 'good looking boy' (as Marival calls Jim Polli), wearing the hat he bought while we were touring.
