This was David's first waterfowl hunt. He went to look, not shoot. We killed four ducks. People who lived across the street from the pond complained and the Sheriff came, but we were in a legal spot. The last week or so of dove hunting at the Jacoby farm, we killed some really large doves that had migrated down from up north.
Joey shot this goose the week after opening weekend when were hunting with Ed Wortham, and David is admiring the size. David shows off one the really big doves we killed at the Jacoby farm on the last weekend of September.
Here are Dave and Joe ready to go at 3:30 AM on the youth day duck hunt where only kids 16 and under can shoot. David got carsick and Dad had to bring him home before they left town. Joey killed one mallard on youth day. The other boy in the blind didn't get any, although we got some pretty good shots. Four ducks that were wounded also got away. It rained all day, and Joey was soaked and frozen.
Joey is getting ready to pluck the Canadian Goose he shot on his second duck hunt of the year. Joey holds up this huge goose he shot. This was the only bird we got that day. It turned out to weigh about 12 pounds, and its wingspan was almost 5 feet.
Mom when on a quick duck hunt to the Jacoby farm with Dad. Here she is trying to decide which hat is the most fashionable. We scared up a few ducks from a pond, but didn't bring any home. This is at the Jim Davis Gun Museum in Claremore. Claremore, home of the famous Will Rogers, is just northeast of Tulsa. Here are some of the oldest armour and oldest guns.
An amazing collection of handguns. Joey had been wanting to go to the museum for a long time, and Dad finally took him. Here's a funny arrangment of rifles. Joey is standing in the middle.
