The boys really miss the water now that we live in landlocked Oklahoma, so we let them take just a little time to go into the gulf. Later that day, we had lunch at Guido's before heading off to Beaumont. That was good eats!(28 secs) Just a short clip of Dave being Grandma's sous chef. (11 secs)
David was picked in the first round of the draft, before Joey's coach even got a turn, so he played on the Rockies. He was one of the youngest players on his team, but was good enough to pitch for them. Here, you will even see him SPITTING(!) just like the major leaguers. (70 secs) This was a dove hunt about the middle of the season. Some of these big doves came in from the north. They are about 2 or 3 times the size of our local doves. They were, as Alton Brown likes to say, "Good eats!"(39 secs)
When we go traveling to a city with a major league ball park, the boys insist on taking in a game. We took a side trip to Boston just to go to Fenway. Boston has changed a lot since Mom was there at MIT, especially with the "Big Dig". We got lost driving sometimes. But we all enjoyed eating there. Especially the lobsters at Legal Seafood. (36 secs) On the drive from Galveston to Beaumont, we decided to take the ferry. It makes for a nice little change of scenery. (34 secs)
On our way to visit Grandma, we stopped and fished on the pier in Galveston. It wasn't good fishing at all, so we were all quite disappointed. (46 secs) At the dinner, Travis and Eric Olson, and Jerry sang a song as part of the entertainment. Jerry is playing Travis' bass guitar. We didn't even know he could play a bass.... (56 secs)
Our church is planning to move to a new building. We were at a special dinner as part of this building campaign, and the teens put on a play. We just snapped a bit of Jerry, along with Hannah Griffin (in the hat) and Heather Olson. (28 secs) Joey took this video of Jerry. After every pitch, he would drop the camera while it was still running. Editing this was ... er... difficult.
Jerry is a good pitcher. He has a nice fastball (~75 mph), and he has a pretty curve. (36 secs)
Joey went on a duck hunt with the big boys. Ed owns the boat, and he let Joey drive it back. They hunt in Webber's Falls, south of Tulsa. (23 secs) Mom hates to watch Joey catch because she thinks he'll get his teeth knocked out. He was the catcher for Joel Martin, who throws hard and fast. Joey is an excellent catcher. (50 secs)
Last year, Ed shot a goose and gave it to us. Judy had never cooked a goose before, but Ed said to stuff it like a turkey and roast it. It was so good! Joey was so pleased to get this goose for our table. Pretty good for a little boy with a 20 gauge shotgun! (29 secs) On Geof's birthday, we took off after church and headed down to Oklahoma City. We stayed downtown, near the renovated area called Bricktown. We went to visit Geof's aunts in Duncan the next day. This movie was taken on a boat trip on the canal in Bricktown. (36 secs)
This is at Judy's mom's house. Judy's Uncle Ken, is not familiar with high tech toys. When we showed him last year's Christmas CD, he said, "Judy's in the computer!"(75 secs) Dean and Susan had tickets to the Yankees game, but Dean was sick, so the boys had a chance to see the Yankees play on July 4th. Jerry and Joey had already been to Yankee stadium years ago, but this was Davey's first time. (40 secs)
